Farmer’s Market Meets Bistro Dinner

My brother-in-law is in town tonight.  We’re heading out to dinner at Bistro Elan which is within walking distance from our apartment.  Their menu changes every few days, but one of the things I love about them is that they shop at the same farmer’s market that we do and they list the ingredients on the menu that they got from the market (see above link).  It shows you the possibilities of what real chefs make with the same ingredients.  Ah, sweet inspiration.

I like supporting a business like this which has transparency on their menu and pride in organic, sustainable food — much better than the vague “we use local ingredients when possible” — what does that mean, really?

Always nice to have a local restaurant that actually uses local food. We have just one or two that do that – I hope the trend grows!
