First Weekend Away

This weekend J. and I went to a wedding on the central coast and left Max with my folks.  Max ate better with them.  He slept better with them.  He played nicely for two days and laughed up a storm.  However, when he saw us again last night he was mad as hell and cried his head off.  That was tough.  In combination with that, he cut his first tooth, so he was in quite a bit of pain.  We found that a little whiskey on the gums really helped.

Then we capped off the experience by being trapped in traffic for 3 hours on what should have been a 45 minute drive.  I’m pretty tired today.

Oh goodness! Poor Max and poor Mommy! Hope you all get back into synch very soon. Hope you and J. at least had a nice weekend 🙂

Fret not about his crying/attitude toward you and your husband. Kids often behave better for people other than Mommy (and Daddy if primary caregiver or co-parent), even at Max’s age. I was getting stressed about how my kids would cry when I came home every night but other moms reassured me it was because they are destressing and letting go of the “good” behavior they had “on”. I’ll have to try whiskey on the gums but we found that Ned responds best to Motrin – but if he has any stomach/GI issues you should stick to Tylenol (as we do for Penny). I bought all these teething tablets (all natural) and they’ve been “for the birds”. Sleep/no-pain for my kids is worth the risk of “drugging” them.

Would love to go away with Husband at some point but we feel a bit relegated to waiting until next summer. Really hard to stick grandparents with twins. 🙂
